Xiangping JIA is a professor in agricultural economics at the Northwest Agriculture & Forest University (NAFU, located in Shaanxi, China) since 2014. He received his PhD from University of Hohenheim in 2008, Germany. Working on research about agricultural policies and rural development, he has a particular interest in the institutions of agricultural extension services. He has conducted a number of evaluation studies of knowledge training of sustainable farm practices in China’s intensified agriculture. Recently, he led an evaluation study on the ministerial program of farmer field school by using the approach of random control trials. At present, he is developing projects that institutionalize agricultural extension services that align agricultural universities with other stakeholders such as the public extension system and private sector in China. He expect to promote the discussion on the role agricultural universities and research institutions in the pluralistic system of RAS in developing countries.
